The website I’ve been working on (fancast) just deployed a new version (1.7) and since fancast has access to the HULU full-length videos you can do cool things like watch Breakfast Club while you are at work.

Most videos will now run full-screen (but not any Hulu videos). Enjoy some media a work……

It should be noted, though, that I listened to the audio book of “Eat, Pray, Love” (with the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, narrating), which I got off Audible. I don’t read any more. Reading is for boys.

Like Apple and its iPhone, IvyGateBlog has just scratched a collective itch
we didn’t even know we had by introducing the “Worst Ivy League A Cappella Tournament.” There are 8 groups in the line-up, and I’m afraid that the Penn group, Chord-on-Blues, are the #1 Seed - and they decimated Harvard’s #8 Seed yesterday with this little apple of dischord:

With the football team playing like crap this year, this may be Penn’s only chance to win an Ivy title this fall.

‘Dan in Real Life’ is not a total cheese-fest

Even though it was directed by Peter Hedges, the guy who wrote “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” and “About a Boy” (two phenomenally poignant flicks), I couldn’t help thinking “Dan in Real Life” would be 100 percent cheese whiz (despite the Metacritic score of 65).

This preconception, I guess, came mostly from the movie’s vapid trailer, which makes way too much of one of the weakest jokes (Steve Carrell gets another traffic ticket and tells the officer to “put it on my tab”) and sappy looking scenes of Carrell as a widower taking care of three kids. Oh, and worst of all, Dane Cook. Gag me with a spoon.

With these lower than low expectations, I entered the theater and was promptly blown away. The movie is better than the aforementioned Hedges movies, mostly due to Carrell. After ducking out of his Rhode Island family reunion he falls hard and fast for a girl he meets at a local bookstore (Juliet Binoche), only to learn she’s the girlfriend of … Dane Cook. Watching Carrell go through the rest of the week agonizingly trying to keep his infatuation with Binoche on the DL was hilarious, and something that I could easily identify with. My kind of chick flick.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and everywhere you look you can see pink. From the lights in the city to the ribbons on politicians, everyone is trying to help raise not only awareness but money. In today’s multitude of causes, one needs to find a way to make their message stand out. Well I think the Kelly Rooney Foundation, inspired by Ms. Rooney who lost her battle with cancer, found the way to get your attention while raising funds to find a cure.
